HAPPY MARDI GRAS 2012!!!

So we've got a 1995 Geo Prizm that will never die.  It's a Toyota Corolla engine with a body built by Geo. It is ugly because the paint is peeling, it is not driven very much but is kept outside in the driveway.  I've always wanted to paint it in an untraditional manner but never could settle on a theme that kept my interest. Then, we took a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.  Of course since everyone had kids, we were quite a big group.  The funny thing is, after having been to New Orleans numerous times, I had never been to Mardi Gras.  It was always seen as something too crazy; something to be avoided.  But our friends had the wise knowledge to go before the weeks get crazier.
I had never really liked the parades.  I didn't get it; all the standing around and being short you can't see much anyway.  Plus, why would you so desperately want to get those beads off the float and maybe even a special prize???  But then once I was there, in the thick of it, the energy is overwhelmingly positive and just  lets you immerse yourself in it.  I had also been there as a child to the occasional Saints game; peeking down Bourbon St., Cafe Du Monde where I always managed to be wearing black, visiting my brother while he was at Loyola, driving over from Pensacola to see bands that were well worth the drive.
Motherhood calls...stay tuned for more details on this exciting community art project!!!
